Jennings Main Street Candy Walk

The CREW Youth Ministries will be helping participate in the Jennings Main Street Candy Walk again this year. If you would like to help us on 10.29.08, please let Student Pastor Nate know, and make arrangements to be there. We will be dressing in 'Hillbilly' costumes, so come out, do some outreach and have some fun.

Chicot State Park Camping Trip

We will, once again, be joining XLR8 Youth Ministries from Landmark UPC in Lafayette, on their annual camping trip to Chicot State Park. Price will be $20 a person for Friday night and Saturday, while $10 for just Saturday. We will be leaving Friday 10.24.08 and returning home Saturday 10.25.08. See Student Pastor Nate for more information and to sign up if you want to go.

Boys Paintball 10.17.08 through 10.18.08

Boy's paintball camp out will be Friday 10.17 through Saturday 10.18. We will have RSVP handouts this weekend for everyone to sign up. So break out your paintball stuff, get it cleaned up, guns working, and lets go have a great camp out, CREW style!

The Mask

Halloween is one of the most celebrated holidays that we have here in America. Why is that though? Do people even know what they are celebrating? Who’s getting the glory from this ‘holiday’?
I think one of the reasons its so ‘celebrated’ is because people love to play dress up. Remember that as a kid? Sure you do. Boys you probably wore high heals and played dress up, while we know the girls loved to be a ‘princess’ even if just for a few moments. Something happens when the mask goes on. You can hid from reality and be who you really are inside.
With God the mask have to come off. So many times we go through things that we don’t
understand and that hurt; mainly because God wants us broken and ply-able in his hands. Take off the mask and enjoy Gods presence in your life. He will help you become the person you want to be.

New Youth Schedule

Sometimes things just have to be changed up a bit, it brings a freshness to the group. So we are going to do just that by changing up our schedule. Our youth services have been rocking and cells are a little down, so starting after our social this month we will be moving to 3 youth services per month (first 3 Mondays of each month) and one cell to review what we have discussed the whole month at the end of each month. Hope you guys enjoy the change. We have a ton of more things that we will be adding such as food for sale, videos, and much much more!

The Masquerade Ball

The masquerade ball started where all your little rich blue bloods could go and just go crazy. They could just do anything that came to there mind and not have to be held responsible or
disgrace the family name. They had no identity.
So many times in our lives we try to go through life with a mask on, trying to fit in with different crowd and different people. In all reality those we are trying to be like are trying to be someone else.
So who are we really trying to be or act like. I can tell you one thing if you look to Christ and try and imitate him, you can never go wrong. He is never looking at anyone else and he is always true to what he says. The bible says he will never leave us or forsake us. That means no matter what, he is right there. Now how many of our friends will do that?

October '08 - Fall is here!

This is one of my favorite times of the whole year. Things start to cool off, weather is GREAT, festivals are here...and FOOTBALL! Any who, back on track, fall is such a wonderful time and with the Holidays quickly approaching it allows for times of reflection. Life is short– ENJOY it and live with no regrets, for God & yourself!

CREW Youth Ministries is now TWITTERING! Sign up TODAY!

That's right, the CREW Youth Ministries are now part of the rising fad of 'twittering'.
Some of you may have just said "what he say?", much like I did when I first heard of twittering. Twittering is a fairly new term for a new type of blogging that is taking place on the internet, this isn't just your run of the meal blogging though. What makes this blogging special is the fact that It is done through the internet or your phone with a text message. The reason that the CREW has a twitter account is because our young people, guest, and even parents can sign up for this account, become a 'follower', enter your cell phone number and receive text messages every time we update this blog. We will start using this as one of our main ways to stay in touch with CREW members with updates such as service times, cancellations, up coming events, ect.

The profit Samuel was telling King Saul to just find something to do, because God was going to bless it. God was with Saul and whatever Saul wanted to do, God would bless it and use him.

When you are filled with the Holy Ghost, God is now in you. You are chosen to prosper and anointed to succeed. Just put your hands to something because whatever you decide to do, God will bless it.

Teach a bible study, witness, share your testimony, be kind to someone; simply act like a Christian and watch God bless and use you to win Souls.

School Schedule Kicks Back Off

School is back and so is our normal youth schedule. We are moving out of our summer schedule to our school schedule of every Monday is youth night. The first Monday will be a youth cell social, the second will be a Monday Night Ignite, the third will be a youth cell, and the 4th Monday will be another Monday Night Ignite. We are looking forward to a awesome rest of the year!

AWESOME job with Sheaves for Christ

I want to thank everyone who gave or helped us with our Sheaves for Christ offering this year. We were able to send $500 more than the last 2 years combined, for a total of $1500!! For a group our size, that is awesome. Thank you again for doing such a wonderful job with all the fundraisers and the help. Your name will be on souls that you will never meet!

School Time Again

Didn’t school just end yesterday? GEZZ! Time has flown by and now the summer is coming to a close. As sad a time this is for some of you, its actually a time I look forward to because we get more time with you guys. Here’s to a great rest of the year!!

Youth Prayer & Game Day

July 12th we will have our 24 hour prayer slot at 10 am. At 11 am we will then all go to Student Pastor Nate's home for games and a movie. Please make every effort to be at prayer before we have our fellowship. This is going to be a great day, make sure you're there!

Don't Hate; Participate!

I know that the summer is breezing away very quickly. Wow what a wonderful time we had at Youth Camps 08’. Starting the week off not knowing who I was till on Friday being able to Identify God in my life. I may not know everything God is doing in my life, but He sure is working. I hope that you can say the same thing.

There is an old story about a college student who was desperately in need of a summer job. He searched the want ads and discovered the local zoo was looking for help. He couldn’t think of a more creative way to spend the summer, but he wasn’t prepared for the job description. When he went to apply, the zookeeper explained that they had recently lost their gorilla. “You can’t have a zoo without a gorilla,” the zookeeper rationalized. “We are expecting a new gorilla by the end of the summer, nut, in the meantime, we need someone to dress the part. We’ll pay you well.”

The young student was hesitant, but he needed the money, so he agreed. After a couple of hours in the gorilla suit, he found himself almost enjoying the job. But in the awkward costume he could not always see where he was going, and he accidentally stumbled into the lion’s cage. The lion roared violently, throwing the college student into a panic. “Help!” he screamed. “Help! I’m a man in here! I’m a man in this gorilla suit!”

Then he heard a voice from in the lion whisper, “Shut up, kid! You’ll get us both fired!”
In reality, it would be impossible for a human to imitate the roar of the king of the jungle. The moral to this story is you can only be a fake for so long and you will be found out. God started some things in your lives that you must grab a hold of and never let go. No matter what your past holds. God has more in store for your life.

A Man's After God's Own Heart

King David, he was a poet, shepherd, a giant killer, and ancestor of Jesus – in short, one of the greatest men in the Bible, often described as a man after Gods own heart. Along with the list of good things is another list; things like betrayer, liar, adulterer, and murderer.

Although David is described as a man after God’s own heart, he had serious lapses of character and it cost him dearly – murder was a constant threat to his family, his household rebelled against him, his first child by Bathsheba died.

The story of David shows us that even a person of strong faith can struggle with character problems and can suffer painful consequences when those problems are left unchecked.
George Munzing, in this book “living a Life of Integrity,” said:
If you cheat in practice, you’ll cheat in the game.
If you cheat in your head, you’ll cheat on the test.
You’ll cheat on the girl. You’ll cheat in business. You’ll cheat on your mate. Sow a though, reap an act. Sow an act, reap a habit. Sow a habit, reap a character. Sow a character, reap a destiny.

David was a man “after” God’s own heart, but this is where most of us mess up. You see the chase shouldn’t end once we ‘get’ God, but instead it should just begin.

Dog Days Of Summer

Its HOT! Not just a little hot, but extremely, sweltering, smoldering, yucky hot! It’s the kind of heat that only takes a few moments before it really starts to effect you. Sounds a lot like what we should be as Christians. It shouldn't take but a moment before our friends can tell that there is something different about us. Keep the camp spirit alive. Plug in!
